Many years later, director Sanjay Leela Bhansali announced a film with the same name. Star cast included Shahrukh Khan, Madhuri Dixit and Aishwarya Rai, again a combination of talented actors of their time.

So, when Dilip Kumar came to know about Shahrukh Khan playing Devdas on the big screen, people were quite skeptical about how Dilip Kumar would react. When the thespian was asked to comment on Shahrukh Khan’s film ‘Devdas’, he said, “It could turn out to be better than mine. I did Devdas 45 years ago. And now, the techniques have developed, the instrumentation is versatile and at the disposal of the filmmaker. There are so many developments.”
