Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan make one of the most elegant couples in Bollywood. They both worked together in hit films like Dhai Akshar Prem Ke, Dhoom2, Umrao Jaan, Guru, Raavan, and Sarkar Raj.
Abhishek had known Aishwarya for years and had even worked with her numerous times. But it was the year 2007 when he proposed marriage to her. It happened in New York. Both of them were in the city for the premiere of their film ‘Guru’.
In an interview, Abhishek had once talked about his dreamy proposal to Aishwarya. He said, “I was filming in New York for a movie. And, I used to stand on the balcony of my hotel room and wish that, ‘One day, wouldn’t it be nice if I was together with her, married. Years later, we were there for the premiere of Guru. After the premiere, we were back in the hotel. So, I took her to the very same balcony, and I asked her to marry me.”
Recently, Aishwarya shared pictures from the day of that proposal. Aishwarya was seen in a blue saree, looking adoringly at Abhishek while he spoke to the press. The film’s director Mani Ratnam also accompanied them. A few hours after these pictures were taken, Abhishek had proposed to her.
Guru was released on 12 Jan 2007 and Aish and Abhi got married on 20th April in the same year.
