“Watched Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai Hiding From Taliban,” Says Krrish 3 Actor Sameer Ali Khan

Actor Sameer Ali Khan made his Bollywood debut alongside Hrithik Roshan in Krrish 3. He recalls watching Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai in Afghanistan.

Actor Sameer Ali Khan made his Bollywood debut in 2013 with the superhero film Krrish 3. He played the role of Ant Man, a mutant ant human hybrid who possesses the strength to lift objects up to 100 times his body weight. Sameer had interesting fight sequences opposite Hrithik Roshan.

During an exclusive interview, Sameer talked about how he watched Hrithik’s debut film hiding from the Taliban and feels lucky to debut alongside him 13 years later.

Sameer was born and brought up in Kabul, Afghanistan. He says, “I never thought that my first film would be alongside Hrithik Roshan in one of the biggest hits of that year. I have grown up watching Shahrukh Khan. Deewana was the first film I watched as a kid in Afghanistan on black and white TV. And now I have worked with Shahrukh Khan (in Happy New Year). It was such a big honor. Same thing with Hrithik Roshan. I remember, I watched Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai during the Taliban regime. I brought it from an illegal underground market. It was so dangerous and prohibited at that time. If they caught you with a movie or TV or music, they would chop your hand. But I took the risk because I heard a lot about this movie and Hrithik.”

“Similarly, I have watched many films of Akshay Kumar. And then, I worked in Airlift. He is such a nice guy. They all are amazing people. It was a great experience working with them and I learned a lot from them,” Sameer further added.

Sameer has worked in Krrish 3, Happy New Year and Airlift. In 2015, he made his Hollywood debut with the film ‘Rock The Kasbah’ starring Bill Murray, Kate Hudson and Bruce Willis in lead. Sameer was last seen in the American TV series SEAL Team.
