The South film industry seems to have taken over the box-office limelight by delivering some all-time high grossers. Be it SS Rajamouli’s Telugu film Baahubali 2 or his latest release ‘RRR’, the films have created wonders at the box office. Even KGF 2 is soaring high and creating a new record every day.

The back to back hits from the south industry have put Bollywood far behind in the number game. Recently, during the trailer launch of ‘Thar’, actor Anil Kapoor was asked to comment on the success of regional films from South India.

He said, “The South industry has always made nice films. Even during growing up, I saw people appreciating south films. Be it Ram Aur Shyam or Ek Duje Ke Liye. So, they have made amazing films and will continue doing so. They have always been a kind of inspiration. I started my career in the South. My first film as a lead actor was in Telugu. I learned professionalism, dedication, and discipline there. I then also did a Kannada film. It was Mani Ratnam’s first film. I did several Hindi films that were adaptations of South films. I have always admired them. I don’t get surprised by their success. It was bound to happen and will continue to happen forever.”

Anil Kapoor will be next seen in a crime thriller film titled ‘Thar’. It also features his son Harshvardhan Kapoor, Satish Kaushik and Fatima Sana Shaikh. The film will start streaming on Netflix on May 6.
