Vivek Agnihotri Warns “The Kerala Story” Team, Recalls Being “Assaulted”

Vivek Agnihotri congratulates the makers of "The Kerala Story", and further warns them of the ‘unimaginable hate' they may receive from people.

Sudipto Sen’s controversial film, “The Kerala Story” has made its way to the theatres. The film which was earlier embroiled in controversies was released in the theatres on 5th May. Reacting to the controversy, filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri was recently seen “warning” the makers of the film of the consequences they might face soon. Vivek also recalled as to how he got “assaulted” after the release of his film, “The Kashmir Files“.

In a long tweet, Vivek addressed about being assaulted during making films like, “The Kashmir Files” he wrote, “In India, making such cinema is not easy. I tried it with ‘Buddha in A Traffic Jam’, ‘The Tashkent Files’ and ‘The Kashmir Files’. I have been physically, professionally, socially and psychologically assaulted.”

Further in his tweet, Vivek congratulated and warned the makers of “The Kerala Story” of the times ahead, he wrote, “Dear Vipul Shah &@sudiptoSENtlm,@adah_sharma and team of #TheKeralaStory, first let me congratulate you for the brave effort. At the same time, let me also give you the bad news that from here on, your lives will not be the same. You will receive unimaginable hate. Your will feel suffocated. Many times you may get confused and demoralised.”

Controversy Around “The Kerala Story”

The movie’s storyline focuses on the forced & radicalization of women in Kerala. The movie reportedly claims that almost 32,000 women in the state were allegedly forced to convert to Islam while many were taken to “ISIS”. Because of the same a petition was filed in the court to demand a ban on the film. While a segment of audience even came out to call the movie a “propaganda film”. However, the film has now turned out to receive positive reviews from the audience and has also become the 5th biggest opener of the year.

Directed by Sudipto Sen and produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah, the drama film, “The Kerala Story” stars Yogita Bihani, Adah Sharma, Siddhi Idnani, and Sonia Balani in the lead roles. The film was released on 5th May.
