Vivek Agnihotri Says Anurag Kashyap Tried To Sabotage His Film, The Kashmir Files

The Kashmir Files director Vivek Agnihotri is known for the statement and Tweets he makes every now and then. Recently the filmmaker took a dig at Anurag Kashyap after he said that he hopes The Kashmir Files is not selected as India’s entry at the Oscars. Meanwhile now in a recent interview, Vivek said that filmmaker Anurag Kashyap tried to ‘sabotage’ his film, The Kashmir Files.

In a recent interview with India Today, director Vivek Agnihotri reacted to Anurag Kashyap’s comment on not wanting Kashmir Files in the Oscars, he said “I don’t have a problem with anybody criticizing the film. In every interview, I say I am the greatest fan of SS Rajamouli. Vijayendra Ji is a very dear friend of mine, like an older brother. Any film can go for Oscar, how does it matter? It’s the jury, which will decide. So wishing this film goes is fine but pinpointing a certain film with which you had problems in the past and you have tried to sabotage it. Now you are running a campaign that it should not go for Oscars is ethically and morally wrong. I make my film very passionately so I can protect them very passionately.”

Anurag Kashyap On Not Wanting Kashmir Files In The Oscars

Anurag Kashyap who is currently promoting his upcoming film, Dobaaaraa, recently passed a statement on Vivek Agnihotri’s directorial film ‘The Kashmir Files’ during an interview. He said, “The west sees RRR differently than what we see, and they have loved RRR. If RRR becomes India’s selection, 99% it might get nominated at the Academy Awards. That’s the impact RRR has had on the world of Hollywood. India might actually have a nomination in the final five, if RRR is the film that we pick. I don’t know what film anybody is going to pick. I hope not Kashmir Files.”

Reacting to his comment filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri finally broke his silence with a tweet, he wrote, “IMPORTANT: The vicious, GENOCIDE-DENIER lobby of Bollywood has started their campaign against #TheKashmirFiles for #Oscars, under the leadership of the maker of #Dobaaraa.”

On the work front, filmmaker Vivek is currently working on his film, The Delhi Files. Announcing the project, he had said earlier, “I thank all the people who owned #TheKashmirFiles. For the last 4 yrs, we worked very hard with utmost honesty & sincerity. I may have spammed your TL (timeline) but it’s important to make people aware of the GENOCIDE and injustice that were done to Kashmiri Hindus. It’s time for me to work on a new film.” In a follow-up tweet, he added, “#TheDelhiFiles.”
