Vijay Deverakonda Seeks For Indian Cinema Beyond North-South Divide

Vijay Deverakonda spoke on the North-South debate at the trailer launch of his Bollywood film Liger

The south films like RRR, KGF 2, and Pushpa: The Rise earning big at the box office triggered a debate between the North vs South industry. Many actors and filmmakers have recently shared their opinions on the subject. Vijay Deverakonda who is set for his Bollywood debut with Liger also discussed the North-South divide. 

The Telugu actor holds a superstar image down in the south and has earned immense love and appreciation across the country. Vijay Deverakonda also addressed the north-south issue that became a hot topic after the south films received a gigantic response from the audience.

He said: “There has always been a case where technicians from South were always working in Hindi cinema and we had many actors like Anil Kapoor sir who made their debut in a South film. Sridevi ma’am was from the South. It has become more evident now but both industries have always been working together. It’s about time that this happens. I’m looking forward to the day when there’s no longer a North-South divide in cinema, it is called Indian cinema and we are called Indian actors. I think that is something that we should look forward to.”

Vijay Deverakonda who comes from the South industry is now collaborating with Hindi filmmakers feels the topic is loud now whereas both the industries have been working together for ages. And coming to this time he is looking forward to the day when there’s no longer a North-South divide in cinema.
