Just a day after the celebration of husband Javed Akhtar‘s 75th birthday, veteran actor and wife Shaban Azmi met with a horrific car accident on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway. Timely diagnosis, however, has helped to improve Azmi’s condition as she was transferred to Mumbai Kokilaben Hospital on Saturday. Now, husband Javed Akhtar shared a significant update on health. The lyricist announced on Sunday that Shabana Azmi is doing fine and recovering fast.
According to the sources, Javed Akhtar said, “Don’t worry. She’s in the ICU but all the scan reports are positive it seems there’s no serious harm done.” The actress is healing well as doctors from the Panvel hospital, where she was admitted for the first time, had also confirmed that she reacted well to care.
Dr. Santosh Shetty, executive director and CEO of Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, had said the actor is out of danger on Saturday evening. “She is stable and under observation.” but sources say that it will take Azmi at minimum a month to fully recover. The incident occurred when the Azmi car smashed into a truck while trying to overtake the Mumbai-Pune Expressway. The mishap left the car and truck both in bad condition.
While the truck driver has lodged an FIR against Amlesh Yogendra Kamat, driver of Shabana. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been among those who have taken to Facebook. He commented, “News of the injury to @AzmiShabana Ji in an accident is distressing. I pray for her quick recovery. ‘
