Uunchai Director Sooraj Barjatya Took Anxiety Pills Before Narrating Script To Amitabh Bachchan

Sooraj Barjatya revealed he had to take two anxiety tablets ahead of narrating Uunchai to Amitabh Bachchan

Sooraj Barjtya has directed several Rajshri films starting his career with the home production as fifth assistant director. The last film he directed was Salman Khan and Sonam Kapoor’s Prem Ratan Dhan Paayo. The filmmaker has returned to directing films with Uunchai after seven years. Recently, Sooraj Barjatya revealed he had to take two anxiety tablets ahead of narrating Uunchai to Amitabh Bachchan. Read on to know why.

During the trailer launch of the film, Sooraj said it is difficult to face the veteran actor as he listens to the script without blinking his eyes. According to Indian Express, Sooraj said, “I remember meeting sir (Amitabh) for the narration of Main Prem Ki Deewani Hoon and he listens ‘apalak’ (without blinking his eyes) and you cannot face the gaze, it’s not easy. When I wrote this script, I messaged him and he had given me time for a zoom meeting. I sat for the meeting, taking two anxiety medicines because it is not easy to face sir.”

Sooraj also shared his experience of shooting with Amitabh for the film, “I realised that sir is the easiest actor to work with. I enjoyed working with him on the sets but I enjoyed (his company) more in his vanity van. Because he would talk about life, poetry, filmmaking, he teaches us but on sets, he only listens and that’s the greatest thing.”

At the event, Amitabh Bachchan too said he is thankful to Rajshri Productions. “I have worked with them (Rajshri Productions)before. Jaya and Abhishek too have worked with them and they would heap praises on them. And, whatever they said turned out to be true. At this age, there are very few opportunities for us. I am thankful to Rajshri Productions and my co-actors,” said the Shehnshah of Bollywood.

Uunchai is a unique story of three old friends on a trek to the mountains. Amitabh Bachchan, Boman Irani, and Anupam Kher’s elderly aged trip to the Himalayas is headed by a tour guide Parineeti Chopra. It will also star Danny Denzongpa, Neena Gupta, Sarika, and Nafisa Ali Sodhi. Helmed by Sooraj Barjatya the film is produced under the banners of his home production Rajshri Films, Mahaveer Jain Films and Boundless Media. The three friends will go on a trek of Uunchai on 11th November 2022.
