Indian film actress Upasana Singh, known for her popular fun roles in films like Judaai, Judwaa, Mai Prem Ki Deewani Hoon and also in the comedy entertainer Comedy Nights With Kapil, recently talked about her casting couch experience. The actress, recalled her harrowing experience which she witnessed when she was signed for a film with Anil Kapoor. A south industry’s film director called her late at night to her hotel, after which traumatised Upasana Singh remained sleepless and locked her in for a week.

In a latest interview, Upasana Singh opened up that she too had fallen prey for casting couch in her acting career. The actress informed that she was once signed by a big South Indian director to work in a film with Anil Kapoor. She always used to take her mom or sister to the director’s office for meetings.One day he called her inside and asked why she always brings her family in the office. Later, she mentioned how the director on some other day called Upasana Singh late at night.
“It was 11.30 pm when he called and asked me to come to a hotel in Juhu. He said, yaha aajao, hum sitting kar rahe hain. I told him on call that I will come tomorrow morning to listen to the script because I don’t have car to reach there”, Upasana added. To this, he replied , “Nahi..tum sitting ka matlab nahi samjhi..hinting her to come and meet him alone inside the hotel” Shocked and traumatised by the entire incident, Upasana revealed that she could not sleep and waited for the clock to strike 10 am in the morning.
Next morning, she barged into his office while he was in the middle of a meeting, and hurled abuses onto him. In the interview Upasana recalled that she began to abuse in Punjabi as she was very angry, and stepped out. However, while walking onto the footpath, she kept crying as this incident led to her being removed from the movie.
Upasana Singh Locked Herself In The Room
Upasana was hurt as she said that she had informed everybody in her contacts that she was signed for a film with Anil Kapoor. But after this one scenario, she would not be working in the film anymore. She locked herself in her 1-room-kitchen flat for 7 days and did not step out for once. The director shared with her the muhurat, claiming that if not her, then there are many to work in it. However, those seven days made her even more stronger that she came out more confidently as she felt her mother has worked very hard to support her, and she would never leave the film industry due to this.
