There are people who exist and then there are people who become legends and live on forever. One such personality was Krishnakumar Kunnath aka KK. He delivered several phenomenal songs in his career. The singer passed away due to a heart attack on 31 May 2022 leaving a permanent void in the hearts of his fans and well-wishers. We have now found a rare video of KK from our archives. It dates back to the early 2000s when KK was offered to sing the title song for Sanjay Dutt and Priyanka Chopra’s film.
A muhurat event was organised for a film titled ‘Jaan Ki Baazi’. It was directed and produced by Shakeel Noorani. Priyanka had just begun her career in Bollywood back then and appeared in a sleeveless white suit for the event.
KK sang the title song of the film while Shravan Rathod of Nadeem-Shravan jodi composed the music. The lyrics were written by Sameer.

Why ‘Jaan Ki Baazi’ was never released?
‘Jaan Ki Baazi’ was an action film. Priyanka was replaced by Mahima Chaudhry. However, the film was never released, the reason being a fallout between Sanjay Dutt and Shakeel Noorani.
The film’s shooting was 80% complete when certain differences between Sanjay Dutt and Noorani started cropping up. Eventually, Sanjay declined to give dates to Noorani. As he began to suffer losses, Noorani dragged Sanjay to court and even won the case. However, the film never saw the light of the day.
KK’s song from the film remains unreleased.
Sanjay Dutt and Priyanka Chopra Collaborated Again:
However, Sanjay Dutt and Priyanka Chopra then collaborated again for a film titled ‘Plan’. It is an action thriller film written by Milap Zaveri and produced by Sanjay Gupta. The film was released in 2004 and did exceptionally well at the box office.
KK Death:
Singer KK was in Kolkata to perform at a college fest during the last week of May. While performing at the concert, he started feeling unwell and collapsed soon after he reached his hotel. He was rushed to the hospital where he was declared ‘brought dead’ by the doctors. His mortal remains were brought to Mumbai and he was cremated in Versova.
