It’s not every day that a singer leaves an everlasting mark on the music industry but Udit Narayan has managed to continuously do that. Known for his melodious voice and humble nature, Udit Narayan has always believed that a singer’s voice should match the actor’s persona on screen, not the other way around which is commendable approach as a versatile singer! He feels this approach adds uniqueness and prevents the voice from sounding “monotonous” and no doubt, this philosophy of him has been instrumental in shaping his illustrious career.
In a throwback interview with Lehren Podcast, Udit Narayan opened up about his career, his thoughts on singing and his cherished camaraderie with fellow singer Alka Yagnik. The duo, who have delivered numerous hit songs together like Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai, Pyaar Ki Kashti Mein, Kisi Disco Mein Jaaye, Mera Mann and more, they share a close friendship that extends beyond music.
When asked about his rapport with Alka Yagnik, Udit Narayan revealed, “Alka ji se mera jo relation hai vo jis tarah ek singer ka relation hota hai dusre singer ke saath.” He went on to share how they have fun whenever they meet, he adds “Alka ji jab bhi mujhe milti hai toh main bahut unke saath dilagi karte rehta hu, unse mazaak karte rehta hu aur ched-chaad karte rehta hu”.
The singer also reminisced about their successful stage performances overseas. “Hamesha humlogon ne jo bhi shows kiye hai abroad mein ya Hindustan mein, hamara shows kaafi successful gaya hai aur log bada pasand karte hai hamare singing ko saath mein aur hamari age bhi shayad milti jhulti hogi,” Udit ji added, highlighting the bond they share both on and off stage.

In the same interview, Udit Narayan shared an interesting anecdote about Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai. When he recorded the songs for the film, he had a strong feeling that it would become a massive musical hit. He also encouraged Hrithik Roshan who was then making his debut, telling him he would become a superstar.
