Janhvi Kapoor and Gulshan Devaiah starrer political thriller ULAJH faced a diffcult time to make a spot in theatres on its first day. With a poor pre-sales performance, the film not only failed to collect 1000 tickets but also saw a fall in the overall day 1 collection in India. According to the Sacnilk reports, Ulajh reached around 0.97 crores net box office collection till the evening. After a lot of stretching, the film earned around 1.10 Cr India net on its first day.
The film saw a downfall a day prior to its release when the sale of tickets in its advanced booking reached less than 750. Even after a discounted offer-price by the makers, the audience seemed to be getting no good response on it. The film saw 13.02% of Hindi Occupancy on Friday, August 02, 2024.
After giving reasonable hits, Ulajh marks Janhvi Kapoor’s first lowest opener. The film was directed by Sudhanshu Saria, and was produced under Junglee Pictures. Other than Jahnvi and Gulshan, the film also stars Roshan Mathew, Adil hussain, and Rajesh Tailang in pivotal roles.
The possible reasons of this downfall could have been its clash with the Ajay Devgn – Tabu starrer Auron Mei Kahan Dum Tha, but the latter too did not have a great impact on the audience. With a 2.1 crore of opening day box office collection, Auron mei Kahan Dum Tha managed to cross Ulajh’s opening target, but Ajay Devgn’s this project still counts to be a disastrous debut for both. Film critics gave Ulajh a 1.5 star rating.
