Lawrence D’Souza, who began his career as an assistant cameraman and later became a well-known director, is recognized for films like Prateeksha, Papi Gudia, Aarzoo and more. And one such of his ambitious projects was the Bollywood movie Dil Bhi Kya Cheez Hai, which featured a fresh cast but unfortunately never made it to theaters.
Lehren Retro brings you an exclusive muhurat video of this shelved film, offering fans a glimpse into a project that remains largely unknown. The video includes insights from actors and the director, giving us a taste of what could have been. D’Souza aimed to introduce new talent, casting notable actors like Vastavikta Pandit, daughter of the legendary Raaj Kumar, alongside Arjan Bajwa, Shama Sikander, British-Pakistani actress-singer Salma Agha and others.
For those unfamiliar, in 2000, as per the reports in News18, D’Souza replaced Vastavikta Pandit at the last minute for the film, where Arjan Bajwa was set to star opposite her. After this change, Vastavikta said goodbye to Bollywood and did not take on any more film projects which is quite intriguing.

On the other hand, at that time, Salma Agha was already a prominent figure in the film industry, having captivated audiences with her performances and singing in both Pakistani and Indian films during the 1980s and early 1990s.
On the muhurat day of Dil Bhi Kya Cheez Hai, actor Arjan Bajwa was excited about his debut in this Bollywood movie but that opportunity slipped away. Despite this setback, he continued to work hard and eventually made a name for himself in television, as well as in Hindi and Telugu films, including notable projects like Arundhati, Woh Tera Naam Tha, Arjun Reddy, Fashion and more.
Another actress attached to the project was Shama Sikander, who was also on the verge of stardom after attending acting school in the early 1990s. Although she did not appear in this film, but later gained recognition for her role as Pooja Mehta in the popular TV show Yeh Meri Life Hai and in several Bollywood films, short films and web series
