The Indefatigable Nana Patekar And His Contribution To Farmers

To support Maharashtra’s drought-affected farmers and their families, Actors Nana Patekar and Makrand Anaspure, have set up an organization called Naam Foundation.

The actor cum social activist said, “Considering the rising suicide cases in the drought-prone district of Latur, Beed, and Aurangabad, the NGO is undertaking initiatives such as providing psychological support to distressed farmers. All they want to know is that they are not alone. It is not merely about financial support. We take help from psychologists, who assist them through camps or personal interventions. They should know that we are with them.” He also mentioned that the villages are increasingly becoming less dependent on water tankers.

Following Nana Patekar’s footsteps, reports say that actor Akshay Kumar has also come forward to lend a helping help to the farmers and has donated a sum of Rs. 90 lakh to help 180 families of those farmers who committed suicide due to the drought. Also, Cricketer Ajinkya Rahane has donated Rs. 5,00,000 to help the Maharashtra government in addressing the critical crisis.
