Actor Gagan Arora made his acting debut in 2018 with TVF’s ‘College Romance’ and became immensely popular amongst Gen Z. The following year, he made his Bollywood debut with the film ‘Ujda Chama’. Currently, he is making the headlines for his role in the Netflix series ‘The Fame Game’ starring Madhuri Dixit and Sanjay Kapoor in the lead roles.
Gagan hails from Delhi with no filmy background. His acting journey began in college when he joined theatre and realised his love for acting. After college, he moved to Mumbai to make a career in the entertainment industry. In an interview with us, the talented actor got candid and shared his views on nepotism.
When asked if the Bollywood industry has been welcoming to him, Gagan replied, “Surprisingly, yes! Because everyone told me that outsiders are not welcomed in this industry and people will not offer me work. But for me, it has been welcoming. Be it assisting on Stree or be it getting College Romance.”
He added, “For me to get a Dharma Project with Madhuri Dixit, it is a perfect example of the industry supporting the talent. And I think, it has to do more with the boom of OTT. There’s so much work now. And people have started trusting talent over stardom. And if you are not succeeding at this point, maybe you are not trying enough. Because there are a lot of opportunities right now.”
Karan Johar, the owner of Dharma Productions often faces backlash for allegedly promoting nepotism in the industry. When asked if Karan Johar is biased, Gagan Arora said, “You know that I am a total outsider with no connection to the industry. Yet I am a part of a very big series by Dharma. I am very thankful to them. I auditioned for it and got the part.”
