The Dirty Picture Sequel On Cards, Check Out Who Will Replace Vidya Balan

The Dirty Picture is getting a sequel after 11 years and producer Ekta Kapoor has already started working on the project

Vidya Balan’s The Dirty Picture raised the bar in Bollywood for being the boldest film revolving around a female character. The movie was released in December 2011 and now it is getting a sequel after 11 years. The movie starred Vidya Balan, Emraan Hashmi, Naseeruddin Shah, and Tusshar Kapoor. The new project is said to have a different story as the lead character Silk Smitha dies in the end. Read on to know more updates on The Dirty Picture sequel. 

Producer Ekta Kapoor has brought in Kanika Dhillon to write the script of the film. The screenplay writer has started working along with a male writer. Dhillon is known for writing critically-acclaimed female-led stories such as Manmarziyaan, Haseen Dillruba, Judgemental Hai Kya, and Rashmi Rocket. The scripting of the sequel is expected to be finished by end of this year. 

For a long time, producer Ekta Kapoor has been plotting a sequel to The Dirty Picture. After exploring dozens of ideas she has finally come to one notion. Ekta and her team at Balaji Motion Pictures are all excited about this special project. The Dirty Picture sequel is expected to go on floors in the first quarter of 2023. 

Talking about the lead character Ekta wanted to cast Kangana but she turned down the offer as she doesn’t want to disturb her righteous image. However, Taapsee and Kriti Sanon have shown their interest but the producer chose to complete the writing work before casting the lead. 

The first part was directed by Milan Luthria but right it is uncertain if he will return to helm the project or if someone else will get onboard. More information on the second installment of the movie is under the covers and we are expecting Ekta Kapoor to announce details officially soon. Meanwhile, reports suggest that the movie will be bold, sexy, and colourful story of a powerful woman.
