The Kerala Story, directed by Sudipo Sen and starring Adah Sharma, released on May 5, and within just eleven days, the film surpassed ₹10.30  crore and has turned out to be the biggest surprise hit of 2023. Despite facing criticism from many political parties claiming it to be a complete propaganda film, the film still surprised everyone with its box office collection.

The trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to his Twitter handle on Tuesday and shared a poster of the film. Sharing the latest update he wrote, “#TheKeralaStory is not slowing down soon… Hits double digits on [second] Mon, higher than [first] Mon –  10.03 cr… All set to cross ₹ 150 cr today [second Tue]… [Week 2] Fri 12.35 cr, Sat 19.50 cr, Sun 23.75 cr, Mon 10.30 cr. According to media reports, “The Kerala Story” is performing well in major metro cities like Mumbai, Delhi, and Ahmedabad, but during the weekdays, the response from other major metropolises and even tier 2 cities has been mixed. As a result, the sudden rise in box office revenue, particularly during the weekdays, causes some concern.

The Kerala Story, directed by Sudipto Sen, features Adah Sharma, Yogita Bihani, Sonia Balani, and Siddhi Idhani among its cast. It concerns Kerala’s forced conversion of non-Muslim females. The movie was accused of “falsely claiming” that 32,000 women had become radicalised and were being dispatched on terrorist missions. The number was later reduced to only 3.
