Thank God: MP Minister Vishvas Sarang Seeks Ban On Ajay Devgn And Sidharth Malhotra Starrer

Thank God movie again lands in legal trouble, MP education minister seeks ban on the film

Ajay Devgn and Siddharth Malhotra starrer Thank God caught the attention of Madhya Pardesh education minister Vishvas Sarang. The minister is upset with what has been depicted in the movie. He requested the ban of Thank God and for the same on Tuesday, he wrote a letter to the Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Anurag Thakur.

Sarang claimed that the film inappropriately depicts Chitragupta, a Hindu deity who accompanies Yamraj, the god of death, according to mythology. In his tweet on Tuesday, the education minister of MP accused the film of making fun of Lord Vishnu. He wrote, “The constant ridicule of Hindu religion in Bollywood movies and OTT shows reflects anti-Hindu mentality.”

The trailer of Ajay Devgn’s upcoming film Thank God was released recently. In the trailer, Ajay represents the modern avatar of Chitragupt, who is said to be a record keeper of human deeds in heaven as per Indian mythology. Post the release of the film’s trailer sentiments of many people have been touched for hurting the Hindu religion.

In a letter to Thakur, Sarang wrote, “for the past many years, many filmmakers and actors in Bollywood are making objectionable comments on the deities of Hindu society and including obscene scenes. Due to the objectionable remarks made by the hero of the film, Ajay Devgan, there is a lot of anger in the entire Hindu society along with the Kayastha society”

The minister further added, “It is requested to kindly prevent the sentiments of the entire Kayastha/Hindu society from being hurt by giving directions to immediately stop the telecast of the said film.”

A statement has not been released yet by the Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting. Earlier, advocate Himanshu Srivastava in Jaunpur filed a case against the film for a similar reason. Reportedly, the trailer of the film has been banned in Kuwait. Also, Hindu Janjagruti Samiti (HJJS) reportedly was seeking a ban on Thank God for allegedly mocking the Hindu beliefs connected to Chitragupta and Yamraj.

Helmed by veteran director Indra Kumar Thank God features, Ajay Devgn, Sidharth Malhotra, and Rakul Preet Singh in the lead role. The film is produced by Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar under the banner of TSeries and Maruti International. The film will open in cinemas on 25th October.
