Sunny Deol is gearing up for his forthcoming film Chup: Revenge of Artist. The film helmed by R Balki is scheduled to release on 23rd September. Apart from Chup, Sunny has a sequel of his iconic film Gadar Ek Prem Katha in his upcoming projects. Sunny Deol believes sequels are often messed up but he is confident about Gadar 2.
Gadar Ek Prem Katha released in 2001 had a great impact on the audience. In the history of Bollywood, it was one of the highest-grossing films at that time. Made at a budget of Rs. 19 crores it made business at the box office of Rs. 130 crore which is equivalent to Rs approximately 494 crores in 2022. Helmed by Anil Sharma, the film also stars Amrish Puri and Ameesha Patel in lead roles.
The superhit film will now have a second part after 21 years. The sequel of the film will see the same cast including Sunny Deol, Ameesha Patel, and the kid who has grown up now. Gadar 2 is currently under production and is planned to release next year. The Lucknow sequence has already been shot.
In an interview with a leading media portal, Sunny Deol spilled some beans on his much-awaited upcoming sequel Gadar 2. He said, “We mess things up while doing part two. If the writing is good, we must do a part two, but we shouldn’t make it just for the sake of it. I am very confident about the film. Whoever I meet want to see something and we are giving them that in Gadar Ek Prem Katha. We resume shooting in October and wrap it up by December. It will be an early 2023 release.”
The actor also wish producers should re-release Gadar Ek Prem Katha in theatres. He said, “I think they should put that out again on the big screen so that today’s generation can see the film and judge for themselves what it (the euphoria) was.”
Talking about Sunny’s upcoming film Chup, it is a homage to filmmaker Guru Dutt. Chup: Revenge of the Artist is one of the aspiring projects of the ace director R Balki. The much-awaited edge-of-the-seat thriller will release on 23rd September 2022. The film stars Dulquer Salmaan, Sunny Deol, Pooja Bhatt, and Shreya Dhanwanthary in the lead roles. It marks the Bollywood return of south cinema superstar Dulquer to Hindi movies after The Zoya Factor. Sunny Deol and Pooja Bhatt will make a comeback to films after Blank and Sadak 2 respectively.
