Suneil Anand’s Master released in the year of 2001 marked a spectacular directorial debut for the son of legendary actor and filmmaker Dev Anand. This action-packed drama stood out for its unique inclusion of the ancient martial art Wing Chun Kung Fu, brought to life by renowned martial arts expert Professor Sifu Leung Ting. The story revolves around Ravi, a young boy of royal lineage who is betrayed by his father’s manager, Kailash Choudhary. Sent to Hong Kong to pursue martial arts, Ravi’s life takes a dark turn when he is framed for drug possession and imprisoned for 12 years. During his time in prison, he befriends a Wing Chun Kung Fu Grandmaster, who becomes his mentor. Emerging as a “Master” of the art, Ravi returns to India to seek justice and avenge his family. Suneil Anand plays the lead alongside an ensemble cast including Aasif Sheikh, Sadashiv Amrapurkar, and Helen.
