SS Rajamouli’s RRR In Hot Waters Over New Teaser

RRR is Rajamouli’s mega movie and big names like Jr NTR and Ram Charan attached to it.

The teaser featuring Jr NTR as Komaram Bheem was released recently and that has landed SS Rajamouli’s RRR in hot waters.

The teaser that features Jr NTR’s look as Komaram Bheem is sure intense and interesting. The look of the movie is power packed and hardcore. So what is it that has BJP’s Bandi Sanjay Kumar’s blood boiling?

It is near the end of the trailer that we see Komaram Bheem changing his look. He changes into a white pathani, applies surma, wears a tabiz and wears a Muslim skull cap. All in all a normal everyday Muslim man look. This look is what has all the right wingers seething.

Now this look has snowballed into a political issue.

BJP State President of Telangana and Karimnagar MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar has threatened director SS Rajamouli of violence if the controversial scene showing NTR’s Komaram Bheem wearing a traditional Muslim outfit, makes it to the final cut of RRR.

The Crime

The BJP MP has accused Rajamouli for apparently distorting historical facts. Keep in mind the fact that Rajamouli had already cleared that this movie is not a biopic hence does not need to be historically accurate.

The BJP leader warned in India, which is a free country, that he would set theatres showing RRR on fire. “For sensation, if Rajamouli puts a cap on the head of Komaram Bheem, will we keep quiet? Never,” he said at a public meeting recently.

Not satisfied with just burning theatres he even threatened SS Rajamouli with physical violence. “If you are going to make a film by undermining Komaram Bheem, by undermining the rights of Adivasis and by undermining the sentiments of Adivasis, we will hit you with sticks. If you release the film in theatres, we will set fire to every theatre showing your movie,” Bandi Sanjay Kumar warned.

Let’s be clear on the issue once again.

Rajamouli had made it very clear that even though the film is based on two iconic tribal leaders, Komaram Bheem and Alluri Sitarama Raju, the film is not a biopic. “My film will not dwell on the stories of their rebellion that we already know. But, it will focus on what would have happened if they had met during their self-imposed exile and became friends,” Rajamouli had said earlier.
