Shahrukh Khan Calls ‘Devdas’ Character A Loser! Know Why

While explaining about his role in his superhit movie Devdas, SRK revealed that he did not like his role much.

Bollywood superstar aka King of Romance, Shahrukh Khan(SRK) attended the Locarno Film Festival on Saturday. He was awarded with the lifetime achievement award, the Pardo alla Carriera or Career Leopard, at the 77th edition of the Locarno Film Festival.

While being the first Indian and the solo Bollywood celebrity to be honored by this award, SRK shared his achievements and characters he looks forward to while working as an actor. While explaining about his role in his superhit movie Devdas, SRK revealed that he did not like his role much. He till date, does not like the reason behind fans loving that character. Khan believes he never wants to perform any role that demeans women.

In the conversation led beyond, Shahrukh also said, “Devdas was a guy who’s an alcoholic, doesn’t commit to a girl, and goes away. I could not find any essence in it at my age,” At the 77th Locarno Film Festival it was unveiled that SRK had earlier denied for his role in Devdas, considering the character a “loser”. It was almost an year that passed by with Sanjay Leela Bhansali not casting anyone else but wanting Khan to play it. After a lot of convincing SRK did agree to the same. However, he did not want people to love it for the characters it reflected of demeaning a female, expressing disrespect and not being humble.

We have all known Khan being one of the beloved stars of Bollywood and above all, he was the truest gentleman. He is often seen sharing a good bond with almost all the ladies of Bollywood irrespective of their age, and films they have done in the past. Shahrukh further in the event expressed gratitude for the award-winning moment, and embraced the love of his audience.
