Soha Ali Khan, the youngest daughter of the renowned cricketer Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi and Bollywood icon Sharmila Tagore, remains remarkably grounded despite her illustrious background. In a recent interview on the podcast Homerun with Housing.com, hosted by Cyrus Broacha, which focuses on homes and living experiences, Soha Ali Khan shared her diverse living experiences. She recounted her time living in various types of accommodations, including an instance of staying on the streets.
During the conversation, Soha Ali Khan talked about being born in Mumbai and later moving to Delhi, where she lived in a 3-acre mansion and attended The British School. She then independently relocated back to Mumbai, where she lived in a large 2BHK flat in Lokhandwala while searching for a new place. During her time studying at Balliol College, Oxford, in the UK, Soha lived with seven strangers in a 3BHK flat, managing all cooking and household chores on her own.
‘Rang De Basanti’ actress then reflected on the extreme contrast between her early life in a large mansion with her parents and her later experiences living independently with seven strangers, marking a huge cultural shock. Soha shared that she has always been adjusting, adaptable and very accommodating. One particularly difficult experience she recounted was “The most challenging night was when I was sleeping on the road in Kaley, France”.
She further shared the reason, saying, “The train stations were closed, and we were hitchhiking from Oxford to Paris. For some reason, no one would give us a ride; my friend Tom and I didn’t look trustworthy. So, we ended up spending the night in the cold”.
Soha Ali Khan also mentioned that these experiences are shared in her book, ‘The Perils of Being Moderately Famous’.
Soha Ali Khan is the sister of Bollywood superstar Saif Ali Khan and Saba Ali Khan, a jewelry designer and the mutawalli of Auqaf-e-Shahi. She is the daughter of former Indian cricket captain and prince of Pataudi, Mansoor Ali Khan and the iconic Bollywood actress Sharmila Tagore, whose Tagore family was also one of the most influential families in Kolkata.
