Taare Zameen Par, the beloved film of 2000s kids for its emotional and impactful storytelling which starred Darsheel Safary and Aamir Khan in lead roles and became a cultural phenomenon. While it continues to settle in the hearts of audience, currently, fans await for the highly-anticipated sequel Sitaare Zameen Par. Amid this significant buzz, in a recent interview, Aamir Khan shared insights about the sequel during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, hinting at an entirely fresh approach that fans can expect.
In his discussion, Aamir talked about the difference between the two films. “Taare Zameen Par is very emotional and makes you cry,” he shared. “But Sitaare Zameen Par makes you laugh, it’s a humorous film.” While both movies touch on the “similar theme of people with different abilities, different intelligence or with different challenges”, Sitaare Zameen Par will bring laughter instead of emotional moments. This change in tone is intended to make the sequel more uplifting, showing that struggles and growth can also come with laughter.
Aamir Khan further described how Sitaare Zameen Par takes the story in a new direction. Aamir explains, “It’s way ahead of Taare Zameen Par because in the prequel, the person with a challenge Ishaan was helped by my character. In contrast, in Sitaare Zameen Par, ten people with challenges will help my character who is supposedly a ‘normal’ person. So, it’s a real flip!” Surely promising a fresh change that will keep viewers engaged.
Reportedly, the sequel is scheduled to hit theaters on December 25, 2024. Directed by R. S. Prasanna and produced by Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao which is undoubtedly anticipated to be a holiday treat. Alongside Aamir and the return of Darsheel Safary, fans will see Genelia D’Souza joining the cast, adding another layer of excitement to this highly awaited project.
