Classical singer Chhaya Bhanudas Sakhare has been awarded Legend Dadasaheb Award 2021 under the best classical singer category. The awards were organised by KCF in Mumbai with an aim to honor talented artists for their contribution to cinema. Chhaya began her journey as a classical singer and Bollywood playback singer 15 years ago. She has sung many beautiful songs in Hindi, Marathi and Bhojpuri.
Apart from being an accomplished singer, Chhaya is also an actor and social activist. This year, the National Human Rights Organization honored her with ‘Indian Icon Award’. She has also been felicitated with ‘Youth Icon Award’ by National Human Welfare Council.
Chhaya is a role model for Indian women who wish to pursue their dreams and live independent life. With her remarkable musical career, she is an inspiration for millions. And that is why the National Achievers Federation felicitated her with ‘Empowering Women Of India Award 2021’.
Chhaya is a born artist. Her parents and teachers recognized her talent when she was four years old. Her father, who also shares a great love for music pushed her to learn music along with her studies. She did her first recording at Akashvani when she was in 4th standard. She has been doing stage shows since then. She has performed at many musical shows like International Iscon Maitri Festival, Girnar Festival, Kal Ke Kalakaar, Classical Musical Festival etc. She has also performed on Doordarshan Channel, Sahyadree Channel, &TV Channel and Zee Yuva Marathi Channel.

Chhaya was born and brought up in Latur, Maharashtra. After she finished her schooling, her father sent her to Mumbai to study music. She did her MA in Hindustani Classical Vocal Music under India’s leading classical vocalist Padmabhushan Smt. Dr. Prabha Atre and Padmashree Shree Anup Jalota. Chhaya attributes her success to her gurus who guided her at every step of life.
In 2018, Chhaya won Mumbai Mayer Award as best music teacher in Mumbai. Her students have participated in various reality shows. She is also a record holder in OMG Book of Record and Nations Pride Book Records.
