Shraddha Kapoor is busy shooting alongside Ranbir Kapoor in Spain for Luv Ranjan’s next film. The untitled film will see the pair for the first time on screen. Completing the shoot in Spain, Shraddha Kapoor will gear up for the prequel of the 2018 film Stree. Dinesh Vijan’s project is expected to kickstart in August 2022.
In the midst of the Spain shoot, the actress signed another movie backed by Maddock Films. She will reprise her role in the horror-comedy which will trace the journey of Stree before she lands in the tiny village of Chanderi. The forthcoming movie is currently in the pre-production stage.
Bhediya and Roohi being added to Stree the franchise is anticipated to extend with sequels and prequels. Dinesh Vijan promises to deliver a completely different movie building a cinematic universe with his horror movies Stree, Roohi, and upcoming Bhediya. Shraddha is already expected to reprise her role in the forthcoming film Bhediya along with Janhvi Kapoor as Roohi.
A source said: “Vijan’s next film in the MHCU tells the backstory of the girl who came to Stree and the complications she brought along. It’s a prequel to ‘Stree’ and will see Shraddha reprising her role from the 2018 sleeper hit.”
Reports suggest that the prequel will narrate the story of a girl who reached out to Stree to tell her story and the complications she has been through. It is assumed that the lead characters of the horror comedies will meet up in Bhediya and the team of Stree prequel is currently working on the backstory of each of these characters.
Marathi filmmaker Aditya Sarpotdar will direct the Dinesh Vijan’s project. Aditya is currently busy directing another horror-comedy titled Kakuda. The movie stars Sonakshi Sinha, Saqib Saleem, and Riteish Deshmukh in lead roles. His next directorial Stree prequel is expected to go on floors in August 2022. By then Shraddha will also wrap up her shoot in Spain with Ranbir Kapoor.
Shraddha Kapoor headlined the 2018 horror-comedy ‘Stree’ with Rajkummar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khuranna, and Abhishek Banerjee in prominent roles. The ABCD 2 actress was off from movies since her last Baaghi 3 in 2020. The action thriller featured Tiger Shroff, Riteish Deshmukh, and Ankita Lokhande in lead roles.
After two years of break, Shakti Kapoor’s daughter has two back-to-back films in her kitty. One is Luv Ranjan’s rom-com with Brahmastra star and another is Dinesh Vijan’s Stree prequel.
