Shraddha Kapoor joins the #SaveAarey campaign

Shraddha Kapoor took part in the non-violent protest to #SaveAarey and chanted slogans on a rainy day.

While people all around the world are still mourning the loss of Amazon forest which was blazing in fire from a couple of weeks back, are unaware of the fact that one of the largest and vast patches of land covered with trees is permitted for being chopped.

The Tree Authority of BMC permitted to cut more than 2000 plus trees for the development of Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation. While everyone is opposing the court’s decision, Bollywood actress Shraddha Kapoor is the first one to be vocal about the same. The actress took part in the human chain which was a way of protest that took place on Sunday while it was raining heavily.

The actress held placards and even her white t-shirt said ‘Save Aarey.’ Take a look at some of the pictures here.

Shraddha also shared a video where she said “Trying to do my bit. Went live on my insta sometime back to show you all how so many people have come together to stand up against this. 2700+ trees are slated to be chopped down for the Metro. Unacceptable. Shocking. As if we don’t have enough environmental issues already. As if Mumbai doesn’t have enough pollution already. And permission is granted to chop off the lungs of the city. This HAS TO STOP. #SAVEAAREY#TRYYOURBITFORTHEENVIRONMENT@aareyforest”

Besides Shraddha, Dia Mirza, Esha Gupta and many others have started keeping their thoughts to save the forest.

Aarey Forest, located in the heart of Mumbai is a home to many wild animals and is part of the Sanjay Gandhi National Park, and supports an entire ecosystem of its own. With a rich biodiversity, an ecosystem like this takes hundreds of years to build up, and cannot be re-planted overnight.

We are very much sure that if this ecosystem gets destroyed, the country will be one more step closer to destruction.
