The Bollywood industry came to a screeching halt since the lockdown orders got imposed across the nation due to the novel coronavirus pandemic. However, now after three months, the entertainment industry will soon resume shooting that has been stalled. The filmmakers now await for the green signal from the higher authorities to kick-start the shooting once again.
Meanwhile, post receiving permission from the government officials to resume shooting, Alia Bhatt starrer Gangubai Kathiawadi may be the first film to roll in Mumbai. The set erected to shoot the major portion of the movie remains unused in Mumbai’s Filmcity.
Reports suggest that nearly 30 percent of the shooting for Gangubai Kathiawadi is still pending. The sources claim that since that’s the only set that will probably be used, the filming might resume in July in order to complete the shooting by August end.
Earlier there were speculations that the set of the movie will be dismantled because of the monsoon but as of now, the open set has been covered up to protect it from the rains.
Speaking of the movie, the title Gangubai Kathiawadi is for the Madam of Kamathipura in the pages of history, who was pushed into prostitution at an early age, and later became an extremely influential pimp with numerous ferocious gangsters as her clients.
Fans of Alia Bhatt remain in anticipation to witness their favourite star portray such a complex and somewhat dark role.
The film is helmed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and it was slated to release on September 11, 2020. However, due to the delay in the production work, the makers of the movie might postpone the release date.
