Shilpa Shetty Recalls Shooting For ‘Baazigar’ & How Shah Rukh Khan Helped Her

Shilpa Shetty recalls being nervous on the sets of her debut film 'Baazigar' and how her co-star Shah Rukh Khan helped her.

Actress Shilpa Shetty recently appeared at the trailer launch of her upcoming film ‘Nikamma’. This film will mark Shilpa Shetty’s comeback to theatres after 14 years. Last year, she made her Bollywood comeback with ‘Hungama 2’, which was released on an OTT platform. However, her excitement has doubled since the audience will see her on the big screen with ‘Nikamma’.

Shilpa Shetty will complete 30 years in Bollywood next year. During the press conference for the film ‘Nikamma’, a journalist reminded the actress of the same which made her nostalgic. Shilpa recalled giving her first shot for the film ‘Baazigar’. She said, “I was very scared while giving the first shot of my career. Thank God, I had Abbas-Mustan at my first shot. If you see Baazigar, you can see me running with my dialogues because I just wanted to end it. I even used to forget my dialogues as soon as the director said ‘Action’. I used to panic a lot then.”

She further added, “There’s this sequence with Shah Rukh, the one in the park before the song ‘Kitaabein Bahut Si’. I was hurrying up with my lines and that’s when Shah Rukh said, ‘Always remember that the camera is your audience. And…speak your lines, don’t finish them in a hurry.’ So that’s how my first shot happened. It was nice and fun but yes, I was a lot nervous. Even after today, after delivering 64 films, I feel nervous. And I feel, it is an important feeling in an artist.”

Shilpa Shetty made her Bollywood debut alongside Kajol and Shah Rukh Khan in the film ‘Baazigar’. The film was released in 1993 and gave a major boost to the career of all three actors. Directed by Abbas-Mustan, the film was released in 1993.

Shilpa Shetty’s upcoming film is titled ‘Nikamma’. It also stars Abhimanyu Dassani and Shirley Setia. The film will release in theatres on 17 June 2022. Shilpa will also be seen in Rohit Shetty’s action series ‘Indian Police Force’. It will stream on Amazon Prime Video.
