Every year, Bollywood filmmakers come up with patriotic films on the occasion of Independence Day. After last year’s bumpy ride due to the Covid-19 pandemic, two major production houses are ready to present real-life stories of real heroes from our defense forces.
On 12th Aug, Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions is going to release Shershaah on Amazon Prime Video. The film is based on the Kargil War hero and Param Vir Chakra awardee Captain Vikram Batra. The film stars Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani in lead roles.
On the other hand, T-Series and Ajay Devgn FFilms are going to present Bhuj: The Pride On India on 13th August. Set during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971, the film is about the life of IAF Squadron Leader Vijay Karnik, the then in-charge of the Bhuj airport who, with his team, reconstructed the IAF airbase with the help of 300 women from the local village Madhapar. It stars Ajay Devgn, Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha, Ammy Virk, Nora Fatehi and Sharad Kelkar. It will premiere on Disney+Hotstar.
Since both films are releasing on the same weekend, we conducted and poll and asked the audience that which of these films they are most excited about. And the results would shock you the same way it shocked us.
Out of 1200 people who voted in the initial two hours, 81% of people showed their interest in Bhuj: The Pride Of India. Thus, only 19% of the voters chose Shershaah as their preference.
Well, the difference is huge. We now have to wait and see which film wins the audience’s hearts after the release.
