Shamshera: Ranbir Kapoor’s Shamshera seems to be another failure of YRF. Samrat Prithviraj and Jayeshbhai Jordaar bombed at the box office year this year and seems like Shamshera is the next one to join the queue. Meanwhile, now the director of the film, Karan Malhotra has broken his silence on the matter and said that he ‘couldn’t handle the hate and rage’ after the film fell flat at the box office.

Karan Malhotra On Shamshera’s Failure

Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor has returned to the screens after four years however unfortunately his comeback has not been as grand as his fans would have thought. Opening up about his film ‘Shamshera’, filmmaker and director Karan Malhotra has recently addressed the failure of the film as he shared an Instagram post on Wednesday.

In a long note Karan wrote, “My Dearest Shamshera, you are majestic the way you are. It is important for me to express myself on this platform because here is where all the love, the hate, the celebration and the humiliation exists for you. I want to unimaginably apologise to you for abandoning you for these past few days as I could not handle the hate and rage.”

He further wrote, “My withdrawal was my weakness and there are no excuses for it. But now I am here, standing beside you hand in hand feeling proud and honoured that you are mine. Will face every thing together, the good the bad and the ugly. And a huge shout out to the Shamshera family, the cast and crew of Shamshera. The love, the blessings and the concern that has been showered upon us are the most precious and nobody can take that away from us. #Shamsheraismine #Shamshera,”.

Shamshera was released in over 4000 theatres on 22 July. It is the second-widest release of the post-pandemic era. On Day 1, the film earned Rs 10.25 cr, which was lesser than Samrat Prthiviraj which recorded Rs 10.70 cr earning on Day 1. Ranbir Kapoor’s movie earned Rs 20.75 crore for the first two days, while on Sunday, it recorded Rs 10.5-11 crore. Meanwhile, now it seems difficult for the film to even cover its cost by the box office earnings.

Shamshera is a period action film starring Ranbir Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt, and Vaani Kapoor. This film marks Ranbir’s comeback, as he was last seen in the biographical film ‘Sanju’, released in 2018. Ranbir will be next seen much-awaited film ‘Brahmastra’. It also features Alia Bhatt, Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna, and Mouni Roy. Brahmastra is slated to release theatrically on Sep 9.
