Looks like Shahid Kapoor is on the south Indian remakes bandwagon. After his hit film, Kabir Singh it seems he has become a go-to guy when it comes to remakes of South Indian movies. After Kabir Singh and Jersey Shahid Kapoor is said to headline the Hindi remake of Prithviraj Sukumaran starrer Malayalam thriller ‘Mumbai Police’.
The Jab We Met actor achieved massive success for Kabir Singh which is a remake of Vijay Deverkonda’s Arjun Reddy. Both, the original and Hindi versions are directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga. Later the actor headlined Jersey which is again a remake of South Film of the same title. Directed by Gowtam Naidu Tinnanuri, the Telugu original stars Nani and Shraddha Srinath.
Kabir Singh was a superhit but Jersey didn’t work well at the box office yet Shahid Kapoor bags another South Indian remake. If the latest reports are to be believed Shahid Kapoor will feature in the Hindi version of Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Malayalam film called Mumbai Police.
Earlier we had reported that Shahid is collaborating with Siddharth Roy Kapur and Rosshan Andrrews. The teaming is now turning to be the next south Indian remake in the actor’s filmography. The ideas are in discussion and the director Rosshan will direct the Hindi version of the Mumbai Police too.
A source closed to Pinkvilla said, “Shahid and Sid have been discussing several ideas over the last few months and have finally locked a subject for their collaboration. It’s a tout thriller, which will be directed by Malayalam film director, Rosshan Andrrews. It’s in the pre-production stage and will go on floors soon. Shahid is in the process of sorting out his shooting calendar for Sid Roy Kapur and Dinesh Vijan.” So far there is no official announcement from the makers and the actor we are waiting for them to confirm.
Shahid Kapoor is on a movie spree with multiple projects in the pipeline. The Udta Punjab actor is roped for Dinesh Vijan’s unique love story for Maddock Films. The movie is said to go on floors this year and will cast Kriti Sanon as the female lead. On the other hand, Farzi is Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK’s upcoming project starring Shahid Kapoor on the OTT platform Amazon Prime Video. The talented actor also has Ali Abbas Zafar’s Bloody Daddy in his kitty.
