Shahid Kapoor recently hosted an Ask Me Anything (AMA) session on X (formerly Twitter) ahead of his action-packed release of ‘Deva’, where he candidly responded to fan queries about his upcoming film, fans’ videos, his career and personal preferences. One particular question that caught attention of netizens that when a fan asked, “Aapka favourite contemporary actor kon hai? (Who is your favourite contemporary actor?)” and without any hesitation Shahid Kapoor responded saying, “I love Hrithik and Ranbir.” And his answer has sparked widespread discussions online, with many surprised by his choices.
Interestingly, Shahid Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor have an intriguing career parallels. Both actors underwent significant career shifts after collaborating with Tollywood director Sandeep Reddy Vanga – Shahid with Kabir Singh and Ranbir with Animal through which both earned a different word-of-mouth for their never-seen-before portrayals that left fans surprised. Proving they can play any role when given, reshaping their public perception and brought them immense success. However, Shahid’s recent comments led to mixed reactions, with some fans jokingly questioning why he didn’t mention Ranveer Singh or Kartik Aaryan. “Mujhe laga Ranveer @RanveerOfficial,” quipped a netizen, while another asked, “I thought it’s Kartik no.”

Also, same goes with Shahid and Hrithik Roshan’s career parallels. Taking to the Reddit an user’s comment read, “Shahid and Hrithik are actually good friends. Fun fact – Shahid was the first choice for Bang Bang and Vishal Bhardwaj wanted to work with Hrithik (supposedly Haider). Both did each other’s film and released it on the same day (and both did good at the box office which is rare too).” Another redditor noted, “Shahid is one of those rare actors who can consider Hrithik (because Shahid started early) and Ayushman/Siddharth (because they are the same age group) his contemporaries !!”
The AMA session also saw Shahid sharing insights about Deva, where he plays a fierce cop which is set to release on January 31, 2025. When a fan inquired whether the film has three climaxes, he teasingly replied, “Kal pata chalega.” However, he did reveal that he was particularly taken aback by the post-climax, calling it “very fresh.” He also spoke about his favorite cop movie, naming Amitabh Bachchan’s Zanjeer instead of a recent blockbuster, showing his admiration for classic films.
Apart from Deva, Shahid Kapoor addressed speculations surrounding his previous comments about actors with dominating on-screen personas. Many assumed he was referring to Salman Khan or Kartik Aaryan, but Shahid quickly dismissed the notion, stating, “If I want to take a dig, it will never be at somebody so senior, so established, and who I have so much respect for.”
With Deva hitting theaters soon, fans are excited to see Shahid Kapoor in an action-packed avatar. His admiration for Hrithik Roshan and Ranbir Kapoor certainly reflects his taste in performers, appreciating talent over rivalry.
