Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor and wife Mira Rajput have embroiled themselves in a huge controversy after they were caught working out in a gym amid coronavirus breakdown. A few days ago, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray announced that gyms, malls, cinema halls, auditoriums, and swimming pools will remain closed in major metros. The decision was taken to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in Maharashtra- a state that has recorded the highest number of positive cases in India.
Bollywood couple Shahid and Mira were found working out in AntiGravity Club, a gym in Bandra. According to the reports by a leading daily, they worked out in the gym for nearly 2 hours. The gym was shut the entire day but was exclusively opened for the couple at 5.30 pm on Sunday. It is said that Shahid worked out in the VIP section with gloves on, while Mira worked out in the general section. But when they spotted a photographer, they took a different exit from the gym.
The gym owner Yudhishthir Jaising and Shahid Kapoor reprimanded for their ‘irresponsible behavior.’
Assistant Municipal Commissioner, Vinayak Vispute said that they have violated a health advisory issued by the state government, thus posing a risk to public safety. He said, “It was wrong on the part of the gym to remain open, even for one patron. If gymnasiums don’t follow state directives, they will be booked under relevant sections and licenses will be revoked.”
However, the owner of the gym has denied the claims of his gym being sealed. He said, “The gym has been shut since Friday. We are not aware of it being sealed on Monday. There is no commercial activity and there are no trainers.”
He further said that he and his ‘close friend’ Shahid were just spending some time at the gym on Sunday. He told that since Shahid had suffered some injuries while shooting for ‘Jersey’ in Chandigarh, he had just asked him to get some equipment. Jaisingh said that he was just showing him how to use the equipment.
