“Seedha Propose Kar Diya”: The Untold Love Story Of Vijayta Pandit And Aadesh Shrivastava

Vijayta Pandit, known for her unforgettable performance in the 1981 film Love Story, has had a life filled with both highs and lows. While her early romance with co-star Kumar Gaurav is well-known, not many are aware of how she found lasting happiness with musician Aadesh Shrivastava. After her first heartbreak, Aadesh entered her life, making her feel cherished and loved unlike any other. Their story truly shows that destiny has a way of bringing the right people together.

In an interview with Lehren Retro, Vijayta Pandit opened up about meeting Aadesh Shrivastava in America. “America mein hum mile the, he was a friend of my brothers (the musical duo Jatin-Lalit). As a musician vo aaye the, hum America mein shows kar rahe the toh vaha pe mulaqaat hui,” she said, getting emotional as she remembered him.

She described how she grew fond of Aadesh, sharing, “I found him very nice and hamesha mujhe hasate rehna. Unki hasi, unki baatein, unka hasaana, joke karna—bahut hasmukh aadmi the aur unka aur mera liking ho gaya tha.” Aadesh’s joyful personality brought light into her life when she was still healing from her past.

As time passed, Vijayta revealed that Aadesh Shrivastava brought happiness back into her life. She said, “I was a heartbroken woman, tho mujhe khushi mili unke saath hasna-khelna.” Aadesh didn’t waste time and made his feelings clear, proposing to her directly. “Fir unhone seedha propose hi kar diya, Jatin-Lalit sabko bola ‘Main shaadi karna chahta hu Vijayta se’,” she shared with a smile.

Her family was supportive of the match, especially her mother. Vijayta shared a fun moment when her mother called Aadesh a “karan meetu”. When Vijayta asked what that meant, her mother explained, “Uski kalayi dekh, uski choch, jo karan meetu hota hai vo bahut meetha bolta hai, uski choch bahut badi hoti hai laal. Tere bacche bahut ache honge.” With her family’s approval, Vijayta agreed to marry Aadesh.

Vijayta and Aadesh married in 1991 and together they had two sons, Avitesh and Anivesh. They shared many happy memories, traveling the world and enjoying life as a family. But tragedy struck when Aadesh Shrivastava was diagnosed with blood cancer. Vijayta recalled, “Bhagwan ne itni badi saza de di,” expressing her devastation.

Despite financial difficulties and selling many of their belongings for treatment, nothing seemed to work. Vijayta stood by Aadesh through his illness but he passed away, leaving her and their sons alone. In the interview, she tearfully explained how she found the strength to move forward for her children.
