Salman Khan is known for having several love affairs with leading Bollywood actresses. From Aishwarya Rai to Katrina Kaif, the Dabangg actor has dated many gorgeous divas and we almost believed that they would end up getting married until they didn’t. However, Salman’s most solid relationship was with Sangeeta Bijlani.
Sangeeta started her career as a model at the age of 16. She represented India at several beauty pageants and also did a few commercials. Back in those days, she met young and charming Salman Khan and the duo fell in love with each other. Thus, even before their Bollywood debuts, Salman Khan and Sangeeta Bijlani got into a relationship in 1986.
In 1988, they both made their Bollywood debuts. While Sangeeta started her Bollywood career with a lead role in ‘Qatil’, Salman Khan’s debut film was ‘Biwi Ho To Aisi’. During that time, they would often meet each and spend time as and when they could. Salman, when free, used to visit Sangeeta Bijlani’s film sets.
In our archives, we have found a video from the late 80s where Salman was seen on the sets of Sangeeta’s film. Sangeeta was shooting for a song with Mithun Chakraborty and during her breaks and touchups, she used to sit with Salman and have chit-chats. Salman was seen in a red shirt and looked happy to be with her. This rare throwback video is from the sets of Hindi film ‘Prakrami’. It was supposed to release in 1991, but to date remains unreleased.

Salman Khan and Sangeeta Bijlani’s relationship lasted 10 years. It is said that they were about to get married in 1994 and the wedding cards were also printed. However, the wedding didn’t happen due to Salman’s non-committal nature. Their relationship ended when Sangeeta caught Salman cheating on her red-handed. Salman was allegedly caught with Somy Ali.
After the break-up, Salman got into a relationship with Somy Ali, while Sangeeta met and fell in love with already married man Mohammad Azharuddin. As their relationship got serious, Azhar divorced his wife and married Sangeeta in 1996. The duo got divorced in 2010. Salman, on the other hand, remains unmarried till date.
