Saif Ali Khan is enjoying positive responses for his latest release Vikram Vedha which is a remake of a Tamil movie in the same name. While on the other hand, he is being trolled for his portrayal of Ravana in Adipurush. Ever since the teaser was released Adipurush received major backlash for wrongly painting deities. Well, the actor wants to star in another mythological movie and that is Mahabharat.
In a recent interview, Saif Ali Khan was questioned about his dream role. To this, the actor asserted there is no particular dream project however, he wishes to act in a movie based on Indian mythology Mahabharata. The Pataudi actor also revealed he has been discussing the same with Ajay Devgn since they worked together in Kachche Dhaage (1999). The two last shared screen in Nation Award Winning film Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior (2020).
Saif Ali Khan said, “What I’d like to play is act in the Mahabharata if someone makes it like Lord of the Rings. We’ve been talking about it with Ajay Devgn since Kachche Dhaage. I think in our generation it’s the dream subject. Everybody wants to do that. We will get the Bombay film industry together with the South or whatever if that’s even possible and just make this grand movie.”
Meanwhile, his latest release Vikram Vedha received mixed reviews. The action thriller also stars Hrithik Roshan in the lead role as an antagonist opposite Saif, who plays a cop. Helmed by director duo Pushkar Gayathri the film was released in theaters on 30th September. The film unfolds a cat-and-mouse chase between a tough police officer and an equally tough gangster.
On the other hand, next in the pipeline Saif Ali Khan has Adipurush. The film directed by Om Raut is being highly criticized for its inaccurate portrayal of mythological characters. Saif who plays Lankesh looked more like Mughal than Ravana. Apart from him, in the film, Prabhas will essay Lord Rama, Kriti Sanon will act as Sita and Sunny Singh will play Lakshman. Adipurush based on Ramayana will arrive in theaters on 12th January 2023.
