He was the first guy to sue somebody abroad when they used his tune and he won the case. My deepest condolences to his family and he will always be alive through his music.”

When Bappi Lahiri Sued An American Musician:

Bappi Lahiri had sued American musician Dr Dre for copying the ‘Kaliyon Ka Chaman’ for his album ‘Addictive’. The Indian singer had finally won the case in 2003. Lahiri later told, “Dr Dre used my song Kaliyon ka Chaman in his album Addictive, for which I sued him. But he gave credits afterwards, so it’s okay and I am happy.”

Bappi Lahiri and his work were recognised worldwide. Many international artists took inspiration from his work. He once said in an interview,  “Even in Hollywood, everyone knows me. I have offers from Whitney Houston, and Jackson Five. All this happened because Bappi Lahiri’s Disco Dancer was a phenomenal hit.
