Richa Chadha On Being Bestowed With Bharat Ratna Dr. Ambedkar Award

Actress Richa Chadha surely has come a long way in her acting career ever since her debut with the 2008 film, Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!  The actress has cemented her place in Bollywood by her brilliant performances in movies like Masaan, Fukrey, Panga, and many more. Indeed, Richa is among the talented actors in the entertainment industry. For her contribution to the Indian cinema, Richa Chadha has received the prestigious Bharat Ratna Dr Ambedkar award.

The 33-year old actress received the prestigious award from the Governor of Maharashtra Bhagat Singh Koshyari. Reports state that the actress was given the award at Raj Bhavan in Mumbai. Richa Chadha is clearly on cloud nine after receiving the Bharat Ratna Dr Ambedkar award.

Expressing her joy on the big news, Richa says that indeed, it is something she holds close to her heart. In her statement, the actress said, “It’s an honour that I will hold close to my heart. For an actor who has had no godfather, every achievement feels precious and well-earned. The award reiterates my faith in my dreams. It has been a long journey to this point and standing by my value system and making movies that mean something more than just entertainment has always been my endeavour.”

The actress who doesn’t shy away from voicing her opinion on societal issues said that as artists they should support lesser privileged people. She said it pertaining to the on-going coronavirus pandemic because it has impacted many livelihoods.

In her statement, Richa said that as entertainers their duty is beyond just entertaining the masses. She believes that they also carry the responsibility to uplift society.

A part of Richa’s statement read, “I urge that more people join in supporting the lesser privileged. It’s equally our responsibility to vouch continual support to the medical fraternity and Covid warriors, who’ve brought us out of the most tumultuous year of our lives.” 

On the work front, Richa Chadha will star in the third installment of the Fukrey franchise.
