Richa Chadha Files Defamation Suit On Payal Ghosh And Others.

Richa Chadha has filed for defamation against Payal Ghosh and others in respect to the allegations they made about her.

Richa Chadha files defamation suit against Payal Ghosh, Kamal R Khan and a news channel with Bombay High Court.

A single judge Bench of Justice A.K. Menon was hearing the suit filed by Ms. Chadha through advocate Saveena Bedi Sachar seeking damages of ₹1.1 crore.

On September 19, Ms. Ghosh gave an interview titled, ‘Anurag Kashyap Opened His Zip & Pushed it Inside-Payal Ghosh’ and ‘Sensational Things That Payal Ghosh Told ABN.’

Ghosh had alleged that Kashyap had “forced himself” on her when she had met him for work. She also claimed that Kashyap had mentioned to her that other actors like Chadha, Huma Qureshi and Mahie Gill had granted him sexual favours to bag film assignments.

The Complaint

The plaint said, “The claims made by Ms. Ghosh in the video are not only false, frivolous and vexatious but has also been done with an intent to cause damage to the immense goodwill.”

However, as no one has appeared for the actor and others, the court has asked Chadha to serve fresh personal notice to the defendants along with a service through emails. Seeking affidavit of notice from Chadha by October 6, the court adjourned the case till October 7.

Richa Chadha has filed for defamation and is seeking permanent relief against Ghosh for all the damages she has caused her. She is upset that Ghosh defamed her name in relation to any dispute between filmmaker Anurag Kashyap and her.

Richa Chadha has also asked that all online content published to be removed immediately and an apology be issued by Payal and others.

In her plea Richa has said that Ghosh and others allegedly attempted to drag her name into false claims against another person.

The claims are false, frivolous and vexatious. They are also done with an intent to cause damage to the immense goodwill she has acquired through years of hard work in the film industry.

“The loss to my reputation is irreparable and continuous,”said Chadha to court and she had suffered tremendous humiliation and stress.

Hence she has left the decision to the court to increase the damages later if required.

She has however said that the quantum of damages may be increased due to continue effects of the defamatory acts.
