The film is based on the life of Mumbai’s mafia boss Gangubai Kathiawadi, who was a sex worker and eventually became an underworld don in Mumbai. Gangubai Kathiawadi is to be based on a portion of author Hussain Zaidi’s book Mafia Queens Of Mumbai. The Gangubai Kathiawadi first look, the actress is seen as a young girl with two pigtails with ribbons. She can be seen wearing a blouse and a skirt with bangles on her wrists. A gun can also be seen placed on a table near Alia while in the next poster, Alia is seen as the ultimate mafia queen with dark kohled eyes and a big red bindi with a choker necklace, nose pin, and earrings.

The shooting of Gangubai Kathiawadi began in December last year and is set to release on 11th September 2020.
