One of 2020’s most awaited releases was Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone starrer ’83 where the two were to be seen as legendary Kapil Dev cricketer and his wife Romi Dev. However, owing to the country’s Coronavirus shutdown, ’83 release has been delayed, and the announcement was made in an official statement by Deepika and Ranveer.

The initial release would have been on April 10, 2020. Posters from the film were released last month at a grand event where the entire star cast except Deepika was present in Chennai.

Taking on his official social media handle Ranveer wrote, “83 is not just our film but the entire nation’s film. But the health and safety of the nation always come first. Stay safe, take care. We shall be back soon!.”

Later, even Deepika shared the same statement on her social media platforms and shared with everyone that Kabir Khan’s ’83 will not release on 10th April 2020.

The film’s release date has been postponed owing to the theatre shutdown across several states due to a novel coronavirus outbreak.

Although Ranveer said in his statement that the next course of action would be announced after the COVID 19 outbreak has been controlled, the actor’s fans welcomed Team ‘ 83‘s decision to hold the film’s release in the midst of the global pandemic.
