Ranbir Kapoor On His Fears Of Becoming A New Parent!

In a recent interview, Ranbir opened up about what intimidates him as a new father and how he's preparing himself for the same. Read to know more!

Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt only recently started their journey as a man and wife and the couple is already blessed with parenthood, adding to the happiness of not only their families but also their fans. Alia, who’s prepping up for her Hollywood debut ‘Heart of Stone’, is currently busy shooting the film overseas. After facing some turmoil in his relationships, and multiple public breakups, Ranbir finally found his love in Alia as the couple is now happily married after 5 years of dating.

Since Ranbir is also caught up lately promoting his upcoming film Shamshera, in a recent the ‘Bachna Ae Haseeno’ actor was asked about his experience so far embracing parenthood. Ranbir even mentioned rehearsing the answers with wife Alia, since he knew the media would ask him about the pregnancy. “I knew I’d be asked this question a lot as I promote Shamshera. So I had rehearsed a lot with Alia too, she was asking me, ‘So Ranbir, aap pita banne wale ho, aap kya kehna chaahte ho? (So Ranbir, what do you want to say on becoming a father?),” he said.

He also further shared how excited he is to start this new journey, “I always wanted children. Alia and I have been talking about children ever since we met. We want to have lots of children in life, how much ever we can and can afford,” he said. For the unversed, Alia announced her pregnancy last month sharing an adorable post on Instagram that garnered unconditional love and support from her fans.

Ranbir also shared his fears as a new parent and shared he’s been taking tips from director Karan Malhotra who had a baby during the pandemic. “Jo ho raha hai, kya ho raha hai, itni jaldi ho raha hai (Whatever is happening, is happening so fast). Will I be able to hold my child properly? Now also, when I hold a baby, I am so scared I don’t know how to cradle a baby while keeping its neck and back safe. I’ve been taking tips from Karan (Malhotra, Shamshera director) as he’s had a baby during the pandemic.”

“I can’t describe the real feeling that I am feeling inside me. I am very happy and very excited, and very nervous. I am also terrified, but I am very grateful. I am grateful to the point that I’ve never experienced this emotion in my life, I’ve experienced different emotions, but this is one emotion that completely fills your heart,” he continued as she revealed how he and Alia had been dreaming of their future together and their kids.

Not just that, the Shamshera star also shared how he wishes the patriarchal thinking surrounding working mothers as he does not want Alia to sacrifice her dreams. “Alia is a very busy working star in this film industry and I don’t want her to sacrifice her dreams because she has a child. So we have to somewhere plan out a balanced life where we both can enjoy our personal life and our professional life, so it is one day at a time, one step at a time, but I have a lot of expectations from it,” he said.
