Ranbir-Alia Stopped From Entering Ujjain Temple By Angry Crowd

The crowd stopped the couple from entering the Ujjain temple because of an old statement by Ranbir Kapoor.

Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt visited Ujjain to offer prayers at the famous Mahakal temple ahead of the release of their film. However, the couple had to return without getting darshan. An angry crowd stopped the couple from entering the temple. According to a PTI report, Bajrang Dal workers raised ‘Jai Shriram’ slogans when Ranbir and Alia arrived at the spot to take darshan.

The crowd stopped the couple from entering the temple because of an old statement by Ranbir Kapoor where he admitted that he likes to eat beef. In 2011, during the promotions of his film ‘Rockstar’, Ranbir said during an interview, “My family is from Peshawar, so a lot of Peshawari food has come with them. I am a mutton, paya, and beef fan. Yeah, I am a big beef fan.”

A Bajrang Dal activist said, “We won’t allow them to enter the Mahakal temple. We were only showing black flags, but police charged at us.”

Explaining the ruckus, a police official said, “We were making arrangements as some VIPs were about to visit Mahakaleshwar temple. During which some people started gathering here to protest against them. One of the protestors started fighting with police officers.”

Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt had to return to Mumbai without getting darshan at the Mahakal temple. However, it is reported that director Ayan Mukerji managed to get the darshan.

Ranbir and Alia starrer Brahmastra will hit the theatres on Sep 9. It also features Amitabh Bachchan, Mouni Roy and Nagarjuna Akkineni. It is directed by Ayan Mukerji and produced by Karan Johar.
