Ram Gopal Varma Reacts To Claims If Adipurush Is Bollywood’s Attempt To Tarnish Prabhas

Ram Gopal Varma says he never heard a bigger joke than Bollywood trying to degrade Prabhas’ image through Adipurush

Ever since the teaser of Adipurush was released it has generated a lot of headlines. Makers of the movie have received major backlash after the teaser launch in Ayodhya. Om Raut’s directorial is getting highly criticized for wrongly portraying mythological characters. While few are asking for a ban, there are claims that Bollywood is conspiring against Prabhas through Adipurush. While people are knocking down the much-awaited movie, Ram Gopal Varma reacted to the Adipurush controversy.

Not just Om Raut and Saif Ali Khan are facing the wrath of the audience over the internet, Prabhas and Kriti Sanon are also being trolled. Netizens are trolling Saif for more of his Mughal look than Ravan. Now Prabhas is also facing backlash for Om Raut’s magnum opus.

While Ayodhya Ram Temple Chief Priest Demanded a ban on the movie, Sarva Brahmin Mahasabha sent a legal notice to director Om Raut. Amid such controversies, some people are asserting that Adipurush is an attempt to tarnish the prestige of Prabhas. Reacting to the same, Ram Gopal Varma said, “I have never heard a bigger joke in my life.”

The filmmaker also added, “We have an idea that how Rama looks. When Adipurush is different from our idea, many are making criticism. To be honest I don’t like Saif Ali Khan’s look as Ravan. Because since my childhood I used to see SV Ranaga Rao as Ravanasura. Ravan had long hair, majestic look. When I saw Saif Ali Khan, I was a bit sad. In a democratic country, everyone has rights to do anything. If you don’t like movie, don’t watch, if like watch it. Moreover, in the form of troll, the freedom of others should not be taken away.”

Adipurush featuring Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, and Saif Ali Khan is based on the Indian mythological epic Ramayana. The film is depicted on Ramcharit Manas and Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan. The film will have Prabhas essaying Ram, Kriti Sanon will be seen as Sita, Saif Ali Khan will play Lankesh aka Ravan and Sunny Singh will play the role of Laxman. Helmed by Om Raut Adipurush is produced by T-Series Films and Retrophiles. Adipurush is scheduled to release in theaters on 12th January 2023.
