R Madhavan’s Best Statement On Bollywood Vs South Debate: “Only 6 South Movies Have Worked”

Tamil and Hindi superstar R Madhavan opens up about the ongoing Bollywood vs South debate, says the success of south movies is not a pattern.

The debate on South vs Bollywood has taken over the nation. On one hand, we see the latest Bollywood films like Laal Singh Chaddha, Samrat Prithviraj, Shamshera etc failing at the box office while South movies like RRR, KGF 2 and Pushpa have done wonders and emerged to be the biggest box office hits. This makes everyone wonder if the South film industry has taken over Hindi cinema or if is it just a temporary setback for Bollywood.

R Madhavan is a pan-India superstar. He has delivered some superhit movies in Hindi as well as Tamil cinema. Recently, the actor opened up about the debate and gave his valuable opinion. During the teaser launch of his upcoming film Dhokha- Round D Corner, R Madhavan was asked if South is doing better than Bollywood. To this, R Madhavan said, “I think if a good film comes, people will definitely come to theatres to watch it. We don’t need to debate over South vs Bollywood. Talking about South movies, let me be very clear, that Baahubali 1, Baahubali 2, RRR, Pushpa, KGF 1 and KGF 2— these are the only South movies that have earned more in comparison to Bollywood movies. Only these 6 movies have worked. We can’t call this a pattern.”

R Madhavan was last seen in Rocketry: The Nambi Effect. It was written, directed and produced by him. He worked on this film for six years before it was finally released on July 1 this year.  The film opened to mostly positive reviews from critics and it witnessed a slow but constant growth at the box office. His next release is Dhokha- Round D Corner. It also features Khushalii Kumar, Aparshakti Khurana and Darshan Kumaar. It is directed by Kookie Gulati and produced by Bhushan Kumar.
