Everyone remembers Akshay Kumar’s brilliant performance in the movie 2018 Pad Man. Khiladi Kumar earned praises for his role in the movie for showcasing a taboo topic with so much of ease. Recently, during the screening of Pad Man in the on-going Indus Valley International Film Festival, R Balki recalled Akshay Kumar’s experience of wearing a pad.

Balki said that Akshay wasn’t hesitant wearing a pad. Explaining it, the filmmaker said, “Akshay said to me, ‘I didn’t know what I am feeling, I can’t even explain the feeling. I don’t even know whether they’re uncomfortable, but it’s like a thing you would never do as a man’.”

He further added that Akshay Kumar’s experience of wearing a pad was beautiful. The director also confesses they had practised the scene a lot of times before actually shooting it. However, when Akshay actually wore the pad, the actor didn’t know how he was feeling.

Going down the memory lane, the ace director adds that they were shooting the scene in Maheshwar. It is a temple and the river Narmada flows by its side.

“We shot that scene where he jumps into the water wearing the sanitary pad. You would be surprised there were so many religious people, the heads of the village, everybody else. They all knew what we were doing and they all supported it,” reveals Balki.

After shooting the scene, Akshay said to Balki that this is something he will never do again in life but he did it once for the role as an actor.

Apart from Akshay Kumar, the film also stars Sonam Kapoor and Radhika Apte.

Well, Akshay’s dedication to nailing his role with perfection is commendable especially when menstruation is taboo in our society.

On the work front, Akshay Kumar has Sooryavanshi, Bell Bottom, and Laxmmi Bomb in his kitty.
