Priyanka Chopra is in the headlines since she spoke about Bollywood’s dark truth. She described how she had to leave the profession, and she has once again fueled debates over the harsh treatment of “outsiders” in Bollywood. She also stated that she isn’t a nepotist. She now also spoke about being termed a dusky actress. Priyanka is busy promoting her upcoming web show Citadel and during the promotion, she spoke about her experiences as a dark-skinned actress.
She recalled appearing in fairness cream advertisements and having her skin lightened with makeup for some of her earlier films in a talk with Dax Shepard on the Armchair Expert podcast. She admitted that when she first entered the pitch, people referred to her as a dark actor. She continued by saying that appearing in a commercial for a cosmetic company is “a very major part of an actress’ destiny.”
She described the commercials she produced for companies selling fairness cream as detrimental when she was asked about them. She continued by describing how she had shot the advertisement in the mid-2000s. India.com cited her as stating, “I am a darker-skinned girl and this guy walks in and I’m selling flowers and he comes in and he doesn’t even look at me.” When asked about the advertisement. As soon as I start using this cream, all of my goals come true—I land a job, I meet the right guy” she said.
Recently, Priyanka spoke about why she chose to move to the US despite having a successful Bollywood career when she appeared on the podcast Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard. The 40-year-old actress talked about how some people didn’t want to put her in certain roles and had issues with her. PeeCee stated that her music video was what got her a job in Hollywood because she was sick of the politics she had to deal with.
