One such actor who achieved success in both Hollywood and Bollywood is Priyanka Chopra Jonas. After showing her skills in Hindi movies she made her debut in the west and swept it up with her acting abilities. The actress explained in a recent interview why she chose to leave Bollywood. Priyanka claimed she was sick of the politics in the industry and that the Hindi film industry was forcing her into a corner. Not only that, but the Don 2 actress admitted that other actors passed her up for roles.
Priyanka was questioned about her decision to look for work in the US during her appearance on the Armchair Expert podcast with Dax Shepard. The Desi girl responded, “I was being pushed into a corner in the industry (Bollywood). I had people not cast me, I had beef with people, I am not good at playing that game, so I kind of was tired of the politics and I said I needed a break.”
Priyanka continued by saying that having the opportunity to push boundaries with her first music video in Hollywood offered her access to new opportunities. She received a major break after the song video with the highly successful international series “Quantico.” Since that time, PeeCee has been unstoppable!
Priyanka continued her discussion on nepotism by stating, “You know they are multi-generational actors that come in and get multiple opportunities versus the ones that come in from outside. You don’t have your uncle make a movie for you just because your last one tanked, right? You have to get it, and you have to hustle for it.”
Priyanka claimed that she believed she would never be chosen to star in a major motion picture again and that she had gone into production out of necessity. And that was a major factor in my decision to take on a movie. It was a need that ended up defining my career, according to Priyanka.
